Sandra W. Reed, J.D. (Of Counsel)
Sandra W. Reed holds an undergraduate degree in Drama from Mississippi College, a master’s degree in Speech and Drama from Louisiana State University, and a Juris D. from Southern Methodist University. She moved to Texas in 1971 and lived in Fort Worth from 1975 until recently when she moved to the beautiful Chalk Mountain area outside Glen Rose, Texas. Continuously involved in civil organizations, Sandra has served on the boards of the Women’s Center of Tarrant County, Planned Parenthood of North Texas, the Girl Scout Circle T Council, Stage West and on the Cabinet of University Christian Church.
Sandra has practiced law for more than 25 years and holds an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell. The first three years she practiced with Morris & Schieffer, a three-person firm consisting of Garrett Morris, now deceased, J. Thomas Schiffer and herself. Mr. Morris served as the first Chairman of the Texas Public Utility Commission, held positions on numerous other state boards and commissions, including the Texas Highway Commission and continued to practice law actively well into his eighties. Mr. Schiffer has been the President of the Texas Rangers, Ambassador to Australia and Japan under President George W. Bush, and currently is overseeing the operations of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the Commissioner of Baseball. Sandra attributes practicing with these two distinguished men with inspiring her to attempt to achieve the highest standards in professional competency and ethical practices.
Sandra has since practiced with associates in her own general civil practice firm, with Bishop, Payne, Williams & Werley, LLP (now Bishop, Payne, Harvard & Kaitcer, LLP), Bracket & Ellis PC, Forshey & Prostik LLP and Rod Tanner & Associates, PC.
Sandra views the practice of elder Law as a way to help families plan for and manage the issues each stage of life presents. She is committed to addressing these issues from a practical but compassionate approach that takes into account financial, emotional and relationship needs.
Sandra enjoys writing fiction, reading, bicycling, needlepoint, gardening, cooking and traveling in her spare time. She has been a member of the Berkeley Book Club which reads and discusses a chosen book every month for 25 years.
